[quote name='rowtareh' date='Apr 16 2005, 10:11 AM']You are just a bitter person that is all. So compare an RX-7 from 1993 to say, a Camaro from 1993. Which has actually lasted longer? Lets not compare speeds, 1/4 mile times, all that jazz. Let's compare reliability, mileage on the original motors.

THIS IS A CAR FORUM, WE CAN TALK ABOUT ALL CARS.

compare speed and handling too....speed the lt1 would come out on top...handling..maybe fall back a lil bit...but a car like mine with the ss suspension...with a good driver...could beat a fd on a track...stock for stock of course

so when you say domestic is crap...what do you mean, by what standards?

[quote name='Baldy' date='Apr 15 2005, 12:47 PM']The Saturn sky (same car, different name) looks even more promising, with the potential of a supercharger. At that's what I think I read in motor trend.

The only place a SS would have a chance is on a drag track. With an expert driver in the SS and a good driver in the RX7 the rx7 would still come out on top. your a fool if you really think the SS would have a chance on a real GT course. And for realiability I wouldn't get a sports car. If I did want a realiable one I would get a NSX all day.

The Bottom line is domestic cars are DESIGNED- Japanese are ENGINEERED.

Note: I cleaned up a bunch of BS posts. This is the "other car" forum, so people can talk about WHATEVER car they want. Hell, if you want to talk about Kia's, Im all for it.

If you throw up a needless, mindless, bashing thread, I will delete it. Its just a waste of everyone's time.

Now, back on topic....

I was tempted to delete this thread, but it was more fun to respond. If you think the NSX is reliable, you haven't owned one. And i think Ford and GM engineers would have a bone to pick with you saying their cars are simply "designed." If you want to work for GM or Ford, you need a minimum of a 4.0 and graduate from a top school for engineering (Texas A&M comes to mind.) Some of the best engineers in the world work for "domestic" car companies.

Put away the Gran Turismo game and get the facts...

you've obviously never driven in a ss..suspension comes with adjustable shocks and stuff for people who want to bring their cars onto a road course...not to mention the giant power diff and the broad very flat torque curve.....you still haven't said what was so great about the american cars in the 1970s..if myou ask me..back then the cars were designed..not engineered....also..if you think the power plant in todays cars..like the ls1 or new mustang is low tech..your a fool....not to mention the svt cobra...that can put down around 1000hp stock block...my ls1 can put down 500-550 whp on stock bottom end...and so on

Anyhow, the solstice looks nice, looks like a Miata, american cars are nice and reliable, and so are japanese cars. Hell, half the parts on a Ford or GM car are made in some Chinese power plant and shipped to the states for assembly.

Like I said earlier in the topic, this is Other Car Forums, we can talk about what we want.

Actually, yes I have late model Driven SS camaros and there suspension is horrible. I have actually some of american's best ACR Viper, Viper, SS camaro, Saleen Mustang and to tell you the truth I was more imprested the first time I drove a Type R Interga. What was good about american cars in the 60-early70's is because almost all cars back then where designed. And no this isn't coming from GT4. Even in the JGTC the viper almost always comes in last. I seen it in real life too(Fontana). I have tons of car videos with Corvette's just coming in last out of a field of japanese cars. I mean have you ever seen any best motoring videos. And oh I did work at couple dealerships for 6 years of my life so yeah I driven alot of different cars. And seriously what does it mean if I went to TEXAS A&M or a community college. If you judge people on where they went to school then there is a problem. Some of the smartest people I know didn't go to college. See what it comes down to is great cars aren't about raw power skid pad numbers or what it looks like on paper it's about having great balance between everything. That is something I haven't see any American cars to have.
