i recently bought a 06 mx5 miata, and the salesman told me that i had to let the engine idle for a while before shutting it off, like you should do with a turbo. i think he is full of crap. does anyone know why i would have to do this?

I thought MS Miata was discontinued in 05?

But no, you don't necessarily have to let the car cool down before you shut it off. Only time I do that, is if I am driving for a long distance.

Car salesmen are always full of ****. I wouldn't worry about it.

Some of them are actually quite brilliant. That's only about 1% of them though. The other 99% are ******* idiots.

I use to be one, I should know. I think I fell into the idiot category.

Eh, regardless of the car I'm in, I let it idle for a few minutes while I do things like check my hair, put away my sunglasses, put my CD case away, make sure I have my wallet zippered in my pocket, that I didn't miss any calls and put the sunshade up. -shrug- It's a habit of mine, but not really necessary on a Miata....
