My friend Jake is sitting here right now, he owns an '02 WRX and wants a lighter hood since he's into autoxing. Some *** at school has told him that you can't paint carbon fiber, and I told him about Ferraris being made mostly out of cf and they're not left unpainted. He's still a little unconfident, can you please tell him it can be done? Thanks a lot.

You can paint just about anything that is a solid.

well.... just so you know... you cant really compare a carbon fiber hood that you buy to a ferrari, or formula cars, cuz the ones that come stock in cars are usually dry carbon fiber, whereas the hoood your freind is gunna buy is probably heavier than the stock hood anyways.. and gelcoated so sanding and primer and all set to be painted

Carbonfibre is a bit pointless on a heavy Subaru if you ask me. CF is the last resort in weight saving - it's expensive for just a few grams of weight saved.
