Did you say carbs? I've become a master of carbs since I got my pickup. Sounds to me like they could be lean. When its cold my truck does the same thing, but I have a choke to pull to richen it up. Trying adjusting the mixture on the mixture bolt to see if it helps it. Have you tried looking at the spark plugs to see if it runs lean or rich?

Also, the way the vacume advance is setup on mini carbed engines....it really doesn't make too much difference if its hooked up or not believe it or not.

I'm going to try and take it by either GMON or Setzep's places. Maybe they can help me out.

Carbs are really easy once you know what does what. I actually prefer them since they are so simple. No electrical nightmare to worry about.

The choke on my car is manual....kinda like a lawnmower.

I have no idea. It does idle way down. I am going to check the plugs and look for vacuum leaks today. Its warmed up a little... 11degs...

Did it just start acting this way since the weather has gotten cold?

welcome to the world of carbs.

like he said above sounds lean, especially accelerator pump since you say it happens primarily under quick throttle movements (mashing the gas).

does it buck if you just load it up alot with a steep hill / tall gear but keep the throttle movements gentle? if not, even more reason to look at the accelerator pump.

I bought it this way. I found a vacuum leak near the choke I think it is.. Looks like an egr valve on the side of the carby. Will investigate further when the sun is up...

I seriously considered getting one of those lawnmower choke cables, the one with the rabbit and turtle. I wish my other mini was carbs, cause if something screws up there then I am SOL. With carbs you can literally fix anything on the car without having to take it somewhere to get diagnosed. Its more enjoyable to have the extra hands on requirment with the carbs I think.
