How come no one has mentioned the SMG version. That tranny is the shiznit. I'm sure someone in the US will hack the ECU to get it to do launch control too. Then you can train a monkey to do 0-60 in 4.5 sec all day long.

The new M3 is full of engineering gadgetry.... and cool, perfomance enhancing gadgetry at that. :yum:

Don't get me wrong....The M3 is a freaking awesome car but dollar for dollar Fd all the way.

As fast as it is I don't consider any BMW to be a sports car. (except the z8) Pull along side a ricer, rev and its on....in an Fd pull along side him and he turns the other way. We all know that the BMW would still win but I think sometimes people only buy those cars just to spend the extra money. Every one I see in my town is owned buy a middle aged woman. Their are better things you could buy with that money. Z06 for example! Luxo speed cars just don't appeal to me. But thats me.....BMW still sells a bunch of them
You CANNOT compare a M3 to a FD or a Z06, all a M3 is a BMW for someone

who wants the best 3 series, a person who will probably never open the hood and get their hands dirty, because they dont WANT to get them dirty, lol. They just want the attention of owning a M3 and the performance comes in 2nd. To them its just another lease payment and when the lease is up they will get another toy.

thats why almost all m3's are leased. there is a test mode for the smg version ( pressing certian buttons if anyone wants to know them ask me ) where you can do burnouts or a PERFECT launch. just depends on where you put the rpms before you launch will tell the computer what mode to go in.

the reason i know a lot about the car is because my last car was a 2001 man m3, and trust me, it was fast as all hell for what is was. as for m5's, its impossible to know how only 396hp can move a 5000+ lb car, but it does, with style.

Hey...If I end up going to College at Northwestern I found My new Best Friend!!

i think that you guys have some weak m3 owners where ever you all live. there are at least 4-6 of them at each autox here in town, and they ROLL hard. even the convertibles....they have the ability to thrash their car, and then turn the worn out leased one in for a nice new SHINY ONE>>>>>>i like that idea....
