right now we're pretty close to the largest practical thermal efficiency using gasoline... to go a whole lot farther, we'd need to extract the heat from the exhaust and turn that into usable energy, and to get 100% efficiency we would need the exhaust gas to be at 0 degrees kelvin (-273.something deg C), a temperature which hasnt been reached even by dedicated machines/labs/scientists. What needs to be done is to not waste all the energy produced, and thats what the hybrids do, they store it in the form of electrical energy. the whole prob with gasoline is that to get the energy from it easily, you need to burn it, producing a lot of heat and wasting all that energy.

and yea, it does look like one of the fisherprice cars, the red ones with the yellow roof... I used to have one and race my friends down the hill behind my house in it when i was like, 4. problem was, the garage was located at the bottom of the hill, and it served as the brakes, and I dont think crumple zones or airbags were on the fisher price options list
