People say RX-7s get terrible gas mileage, and that the rotary engine isn't reliable and has no torque. Where did these rumors get started? I mean seriously..

I get 28 mpg highway in my stock GSL-SE, and about 15 mpg around town (that compares very favorably with other sports cars, but we're the only ones to get a bad rap). My car has never broken down in over 7 years and 80,000 miles of driving (now have 189,000 on the original engine and going strong). Torque has never been an issue (love doing burnouts).

Most people recognize RX-7s, but don't know anything about them. And the rumors have become so ingrained that people won't believe the truth. We've all seen RX-7s for sale for $500 because of flooding problems, and the mechanic was clueless about how to fix it. It's a false rap..

Rotaries rock, and people are weird.

roger dude, you are obviously frustrated because you drive a GSL-SE; the pinnacle of Mazda rotary vehicle production achievement! all other cars are not worthy

on a more serious note, i believe misinformation on the internet has contributed to the prevailing ignorant mentality regarding our cars. also people with worn out or badly modded rotaries cry about it instead of spending money on their cars with a reputable shop.

[size=5][color=#FF0000]rotor beast [size=4]that is a great picture you posted.... At the St Helen drive I posted 20 mpg which I was heavy on the gas climing some elevation. Infact I did not use the top gear most of the time. 20 mpg is not bad. My record is unbelevable. I have to look it up but I know it was obove the 25 mpg posted on the mpg statement for new cars. I am speaking of the window sticker which was with the car which I still have. I thinkmy record is 28 mpg. That is amazing because my low is at or near 12 mpg. The most commen I would say for mixed driving around town is 18mpg

Yes RX-7s have a real bad rap.

You sited some good examples.
