Allright wizards, help me out. My car will SOMETIMES not make 10 lbs at transition and just a few minutes ago, hit 20! 2-fing zero. I still have a motor, lucky me.

But I have all sorts of boost problems & the only thing that is dirffert is the new EGR valve which I suspect is my problem - a real mother to get back to.

The new egr valve had a different gasket than the previous one. The orginal gasket had two cut-outs maybe 1/4 x 1/4, the new one has one cut out 1/4 by 1/4 and a pin-hole. That is the only damn thing I did that could concievably alter the boost functioning. I was told that the reason for the change in the gasket was to contol boost creap.

But does anybody really understand the relationship between boost and the egr? The idea of going back in there is obnoxious & I don't want to do it without some confirmation that I might be right.

You all missed a hell of a night. Sexton now has 2 cars and they qualified 1 and 2 with a 4.91 and a 4.93 at aroyund 157mph respectively.

Sexton broke first round of eliminations but his other car set a new track record with a 4.89!!!!!! SILLY.

Oh yeah a red Z06 got way lose at the 1/8 and hung a hard right into the guard rail. He left on a flatbed!! Bad day!

Never mind the news Naughtyfd, though it sounds like a fine night. Solve my problem.

Is there any possible way that the EGR valve can effect boost? Since it is siphoning off some exhaust I suppose it might but does an egr valve even operate at full throttle? I though it was an idle and light load device.

If I can't run you won't have the pleasure of beating me.

dont know. Mine is gone

And tom, I should have gone. I heard all about if from my friends. Stupid Z06 owners. My friend said he had that car for two weeks! how much does that blow!

Tom, the egr valve should have zero to do with the boost. Are you sure you attached everything correctly? Maybe something is in there keeping the wastegate from opening correctly.

Have you tried driving the car again to see if it was a one time thing or has it continued to happen.

I ran the car a bunch of times and the problem is real, but I agree that the egr valve has zero to do with it. I studied the system today and there is no relationship.

Since I had to pull the Y-pipe to do it, THAT has to be where the problem lies. One of those hoses is probably not connected or leaking. That is the only turbo side thing I did to the car and that has to be where the problem lies. Before I put the UIM back in I checked every hose. So the only hoses that were pulled that can hammer my boost are those at the y-pipe amd the y-pipe is someting I was fooling with.

So, here we go again. Off goes the air pump & into the innards & the world of tiny little hoses and tiny little clamps I go.

Thsi weekend I MUST to get to the track.

Are you sure your CRV is hooked up correctly? If it isnt venting the prespool boost you will get a nasty spike at transition...

describe the problem a little more. Is it spiking or creeping? and how is it acting over transision?

I checked every hose today and i can't find a thing. As of today i simply have totally erratic boost. Now I'm not getting spikes at all. I'm getting five and 6 lbs and no transition at all until I get to third - sometimes. Other times it behaves like the stock computer, cutting back boost from 10 to 8!

I'm now thinking it's a computer problem. I don't believe in coincidence however so what could cause that?. Here is what I did.

1) I put in new coils & a new coil harness & new plug wires and new plugs. The car winds to 8,500 without a hitch - just low boost all the way up.

2) Then I pulled the y-pipe and put in a new egr. I reconnected the two hoses off the y-pipe, known problems for boost issues. They are connected. Every hose is connected unless there is something under the UIM I missed the first time but the hoses known to screw up boost are connected.

I am baffled. Tomorrow brings another evening in the garage.

there arent any vaccume lines directly under the UIM. There are lines on the front and back...
