Hey im new to the rx-7 as i just bought mine about 2 weeks ago. Its a 1982 and i was wondering if there's a way to modify a turbocharger to fit the engine...money really isnt a question as im in the military and have nothing else to spend it on. The car already has aftermarket exhaust and a wide body kit. Looking for any assistance in this project b/c im looking at starting it in the next month....there's some underground races coming up and id love to race in them.

Well, you can check the 2nd gen section for lots of info, but the consensus is that an N/A motor won't turbocharge well because of the high compression ratio of the combustion chamber.

so for the most part the only way that im going to be able to put a turbo on the car is to either drop in a new engine.....or modify the manifold.....if thats the case ill prolly be screwed over for a little while.....thinking of maybe pulling the engine and putting in a 305....would it run faster or slower?

also i was wondering if anyone knew of a good website for buying parts b/c i want to get new parts and make it look extremely clean....thanks for the thoughts

The best way to turbo your car is to drop in a TurboII motor.

It's cheap and way effective.

Right now I'm dropping in a Cosmo 13b into my first gen.

stick with a rotary, 13bt form an 89 t2 would be good..and if you did do a v8 conversion stay the hell away from 305,307 they suck ***. the best choice would be a 327 or 383 stroker. but why murder a RX-7 with a v-8?
