San Bernardino (CA) First FC
Hi everyone.
Got myself a white 1990 FC NA about a week ago. Hardly needs work. 157k on the chassis and about 55k on the motor (rebuild).
The car wants a lot from me and I don't really think I can resist at this point. This is my first manual transmission car. My first rear wheel drive car. My first rotary. It's kinda popping every cherry possible. And I'm essentially having to learn from the ground up.
I've been driving an automatic 2000 civic coupe for the past 6 years and always had an itch that never really got taken care of. I finally got my full time job and finally have the money to (slowly) pay for and the friends to help me out with this.
The RX7 came out of Washington so the undercarriage is a little rusty from the salt on the roads. Nothing big. The passenger muffler rattles from a crack in the weld-- will replace with some fun racing beat catback when I can afford (as a note, it actually passed smog on first try-- didn't even put injector cleaner). New generic Michelin tires. Cracked windshield. Oil pressure sensor is probably the source of the current leak. Idle is ok. Is it common to have to give it a little gas during cold start? I've got a lot of questions...
Will post pictures eventually. Any time I spend with the car is usually in the driver's seat or checking the damn oil, not outside of it taking pictures. I look forward to this forum and what the RX7 will do for me.

Welcome to nopistons, congrats on the purchase! You'll have a lot of fun with it, the simplicity and enjoyment of a RWD manual car is great.
In case someone hasn't already told you, be sure to let it warm up to normal operating temperature before shutting it off to prevent flooding.

Congrats on the RX-7. Keep up with the little stuff and she will serve you well. Take care of that oil leak. The o-rings under the oil filter pedestal commonly leak. Could be something else. Find it and fix it.
Aquariums eh? I've had a few myself. Are you into salt or freshwater?

be careful with exhaust mods in cali, it only takes a couple mods to the car to make it insanely loud lol. although it sounds great i'm not sure what your local sound ordinance laws are. best of luck and welcome to nopistons!

Thanks, the leak is my biggest concern of about 5-10 drops in a night. Can't afford too much right now but I'm going to at least replace the sensor immediately-- pressure read zero the other day and my heart dropped. Turns out the pressure was fine but the unit is just poor and needs replacement now.
I only have freshwater fish (platies and rainbowfish). Salt is somewhat intimidating but I aspire to it some day since those things are really the most beautiful displays. How about you?
I know here in southwest FL, if its not stock, its ticket worthy. good thing they don't really know too much about rotorys and their specs.
lol i'm sure they understand that exhaust isn't supposed to blowout fireballs. thankfully indiana is still mostly rural so emissions take a backseat to farmers being able to keep their farm trucks on the road lol
