Mazda rotary in my TR-7
Hi folks: I just joined u r website yesterday because I need some help with a car I am restoring. It is a 1980 Triumph Tr-7 Spider that someone put a Mazda 13-B rotary in. Before I can learn more about the engine (which I really like, so far), I have a few important questions to ask of you.:
How can I tell the year of the engine? The original owner/modifier isn't available and) All I know is the engine #, It is B 63798
Is it supposed to have a 4 bbl. carb on it, or was it changed over from FI?
I assume that the rotary engine was transplanted complete with the 5 speed trans from a RX-7 - does this make sense?
Someone put an oil cooler in front of the Tr-7 radiator, but it has a manual on/off switch- how often/when should I use that?
When I change the oil, should I disconnect the lower hose from the oil cooler and drain that too? That's all 4 now, appreciate any info that is out there.

Just saw this post, sounds like an interesting project. Got pics, especially the engine and we can I'd it for you. I'm tied up doing a camper restoration so I was not here all weekend
