Mazda rotary in my TR-7
Hi folks: I just joined u r website yesterday because I need some help with a car I am restoring. It is a 1980 Triumph Tr-7 Spider that someone put a Mazda 13-B rotary in. Before I can learn more about the engine (which I really like, so far), I have a few important questions to ask of you.:
How can I tell the year of the engine? The original owner/modifier isn't available and) All I know is the engine #, It is B 63798 Is it supposed to have a 4 bbl. carb on it, or was it changed over from FI? I assume that the rotary engine was transplanted complete with the 5 speed trans from a RX-7 - does this make sense? Someone put an oil cooler in front of the Tr-7 radiator, but it has a manual on/off switch- how often/when should I use that? When I change the oil, should I disconnect the lower hose from the oil cooler and drain that too? That's all 4 now, appreciate any info that is out there. |

Wow, I'm really surprised that my 1st posting as a new member got ZERO responses- pretty disappointing

As far as changing the oil, you are better off not disconnecting the hose, the amount of oil is minimal
