I spent a LONG time researching various cars, and kept coming back to the RX8. The four doors, and four usable seats made a lot of sense, and the warranty hooked me for a used car. So I found a good 2004 Winning Blue RX8 touring with a six-speed manual back in March, and took it on a road trip to the mountains a couple days later. I've since had the engine replaced by Mazda under warranty, and just had to replace the coils a couple weeks ago. It's running strong and even works well with my nine week old son in the back seat (though the passenger seat has to sit upright when his car seat is in place). The only things I'd like to do to it are install an iPod kit, and lower it just a bit. I'm sad that I've just gotten into the RX8 as they're about to be discontinued, but I'm excited to see what Mazda has in store for their rotary powered cars in the future. Hopefully they'll have a solid replacement out by the time I'm ready to part with my RX8. My personal hope is for a slightly larger two-door coupe (possibly based on the Mazda6 chassis) with a larger rotary engine and a good amount of power to be used as a good GT.

Oh, I'm in the DFW area, so if there's anything interesting going on in the area, let me know.

John

Welcome to nopistons! There are several rotary guys up in the Wichita falls area. As for the larger rotary.....that's doubtful as even the renesis has a hard time with emissions. As long as Cali is a part of the US, we'll continue to get jipped on imported toys lol

I wouldn't rescue California if it could mean a bigger rotary.
