IMO the rx8 is a fine car, quick for what it is, however the FD will blow its doors off stock to stock.. the rx8 is more of a cruiser where the Fd was a road race car.. IMO they are two very different cars that use a simular motor.. i wouldnt trade my FD for a 8 however! but if you throw a turbo set on a 8 the performance may be simular but i still think the fd would get it..

Wow... is the FD the only rotary car you've owned/built? Saying an FD will blow the doors off an 8 stock for stock is like putting a Z06 vette vs a Z28 Camaro.. you can't compare the two.. one is NA and one isn't, strip that FD of the twins and see how slow it is. I have owned, driven and modified a good number of rx model vehicles and the FD is fantastic, but so is the 8...
The 8 is also more than just a cruiser, it's braking and handling capabilities are far beyond a "cruiser".
The also don't use a similar motor, the FD and FC(turbo) use a "similar" motor that they both use the same port design, etc.. but just because the 8 and the FD are rotary..I wouldn't call them similar, they have a LOT of differences.
My 8 with turbo is making over 300whp at just 8.5psi..which is as far as I'm going to take it...
I'm trying bashing the FD by any means, i dont bash any of them... but I hate when FD owners think their **** doesn't stink because they have the most famous rx model. I meet so many FD guys that look down on my FB or my FC because its "older"..when in reality either car would donkey bunch the **** out of an FD (my 8 too for that matter).. I love all rotary cars and rx owners should respect the other cars... there isnt enough love for rotary to go around, so we need to keep what we have.. if an FD owner tells somebody thinking of getting an 8 that the 8 sucks... what is that going to do for the 8 and the livelihood of the rotary..not much!

I think you got the wrong idea about my post?? expecially about the Wow... is the FD the only rotary car you've owned/built? Well I hate to add to this discussion. You could probably notice alot of things have changed with the rx's when mazda was being bought out by ford. At least 40% from what I hear. Needless to say. Its hard to compare these newer cars. They have effeciency over the old breeds. I think they did alright with the rx8. However I have never owned one but have driven one. Im just a college kid at the moment with my rebuilt 91 na rx7. Never driven a turbo to be honest. You have to also take into account the price tag on the fd's while they were priced incredibly high compared to the rx8s or the fcs. Im thinking its going to be difficult for mazda to output a car with ford breathing down there back. I think mazda wanted to keep the rx8 as a sporty car but ford wanted to open its interests to others by making it a passenger car also. who knows. I hear the kabura will be one nice car. Its looks nice as a fiberglas shell but how about the engine?

Secondly, I hate Rotards that think an RX8 is somehow faster than an RX7 just becauses "it's a 8 not a 7 and an 8 is a higher number?"
you rx8's newbs need to stop kidding yourselves and take your 200whp and got spend 6 grand on a turbo kit and you MIGHT be as fast as a STOCK fd
the FD is Built for big power and has higher HP potential
comparing the two their is NO comparison
rx8's are COMMON and i see moms driving them too. LOL!
so yall can keep your rx8's ill stay with my widebody FD
funny if the RX8 reneseis engine was so much of an "improvement over the FD engine" than why is it that Most RX8 in competion use FD turbo engines with big turbo or 20b?
like The Rod millen drifting rx8, ibel ibarra rx8, speedsource rx8, these all use 13bs or 20b's
so like i said

hate to bury your ego but your turbo upgrade which probably cost you upwards of 5 grand does not even give you the power capability of the stock twins on an fd.
i personally know fd owners with almost TWICE the whp you have and there's many with a lot more than that and i personally have more whp that you running my stock twins with some mods
