S13 SR20DET's, S15 SR20DET's, RB25DET's, RB26DET's, and 13B-RE's are my favorite motors.
My friend at a shop just put an RB20DET in his fastback and it sounds awesome. 2.0L 6-cylinder..it's crazy.

there was a holden comodore that came out in NZ and OZ with a Nissan RB30 engine SOHC and a turbo version, apparently its real easy to bolt on an RB20det or RB25det head and make some big numbers on the stock bottom end with the right intake and turbo

It depends on the donor for the SR. Obviously a J-Spec SR-20 out of a more modern S-15 is vastly superior to the 4G63 for the simple fact that the only way the 4G is fast is if it is linked to an awd system. The SR is as torquey as its 2.4 liter stable mate and revs with better power. The 3SGTE is like a B16A, NO TORQUE! At least both the 4G and the SR have some displacement to speak of. The reason MR's can be quick is because they have the proper set up for a hell bent launch with all the weight over the rear tires. So... S15>Eclipse GSX>MR2.

I think there are too many wannabes tossing engine codes around and not knowing what they are talking about. Crank walk was never a huge issue with Mitsy yet every moron I know that has a turbo Eclipse that they fucked up due to NOT TUNING THE DAMN THING claims crank walk or some other bullshit excuse. If more people would spend the time to study these motors instead of bad mouthing them the world would be a better place. SR20 is a great motor, and as far as the Eclipse engines I'm not a huge fan but have seen some awesome conversions in Mirages and other cars using Eclipse drivetrains. Oh well opinions are like ******** right....?
