Ok me and my g/f are in my grandmas 5 spd Mr2 coming back from picking her up and this black probe with a fart pipe is behind us some well he starts coming up pretty fast. He rolls beside us for a bit then comes equal to me. So I put it in 4th to see if he wants to play a lil. So I let it go and get on it he does the same. So I let off and go into 3rd and he does the same and off we go. 1 st race killed his ***. 2nd race he got a good jump on me but I pulled back in the higher rpms and made up the distance and finally let off due to traffic. Tie on that one. Well we both got off at the same exit messed around a bit on a road until he waited for it to turn red so I did the same. It was a black Ford probe GT 5 spd with a fart can muffler. Well he revs a bit and edges up so I edge up some (on a hill only have to let off the brake.) Well the light turns green he jumps about a foot out in front spins a bit I launch no tire spin pull back the foot and begin to pass him in 1st. Slam into 2nd not even a scratch and begin to pull more on him but he is still by the door. Slam into 3rd exceeding 70mph now and he is at my back bumper well my lane is running out so I am nice and wave him by and he waves back and I turn around in a local plaza...

Should I have won this one or not?

the MR2 is completely stock with a crummy exhaust on it. But the motor tires clutch clutch master cylinder transmission brakes shocks battery starter and a whole lot of other **** have been replaced. Basically its a whole new car!



But anyway should I have won like this against a probe gt 5 spd? those run into the 15's though most run around 16.5's.....

ah dunno, its like any friggin race, depends on the driver; **** his car could be in horrible condition.

Maybe Jesus is on your shoulder that you win all these races you shouldnt, or maybe the people arent racing and go home saying " was that guy racing me?". Like when some car next to me at a light chirps thier tires are speeds off ( if you want to call it speeding ). I cannot tell you how many times this happens in my Lexus, its a gimmie that some brat will want to race it, and I have no idea why.

I had a 86 MR2. It was a decent highway car, but no bottom end. The motor was like a sewing machine. The power curve seemed so linear. I think it was a 16 sec 1/4 mile car (8 sec 0-60). I would guess the Probe is pretty close.



I traded it in for a Supra Turbo (it ran a 13.9 1/4 at the local strip) (Long story but I had a bet with a guy with a Saleen Mustang. Best he did was a 14.2 (and he had cheater slicks).

The local leader in ASP class autox runs an 88 MR2, and it's a pretty capable little car. Don't know about quarter mile times (and don't care frankly) but he ran a high 35 second run where most people were running 38-39's. It will be a *long* time before I am competetive with him.
