I have a stock 89 Rx-7 GTU. I just finished changing spark plugs, oil and filter and wanted to let the car run. Heading across a bridge I catch a 92 Ford Probe coming up fast. He slows as he comes up beside me and kind of checks out my ride. Has pretty tastful rims, seat cocked back to where his head is about even with the top of his steeringwheel and a shiny new exhaust. As he passes I rev a little to see his reaction, and he actually looks at me and laughs... He downshifts from im guessing 4th to 3rd and TRIES to leave me. I let him get probably 2 car lengths in front of me. I'm in third so I pull into second and quickly make up the difference. I glance over at him, finish milking second and go into third pulling ahead by half a car. He starts to cut our distance in half so I get on the gas and pull away again. Through 3rd, 4th and 5th I pulled away further, each gear making him realize his mistake of buying domestic.

watch the domestic parts! lol

some probes can have a bit of power but most usually dont...

they had 3 models of probes in 92 I believe...

2.0 litre 4 cylinder like 120hp

3.0 V6 150hp I believe

and I think a 2.2 turbo on the GT models which was like 160hp....

But none of the models where really all that great!

With the very last probe rolling off the production line only have a 165hp 2.5 motor (not the same one thats in the Contour)

But anyway good kill

Just watch out for the Mustangs!

Reminds me of the old sled runs on the Counduit example: a Delta 88 and a Caprice.

I raced a 24V6 Probe before I knew how to drive stick well. He took me off the line, the I passed him, went into 2ND (took about 3 seconds) and we were even, passed him more this time, went into third (took about 6 seconds) and he was almost even, the I took off. I won but I looked like an idiot.

Yeah, they share many parts, the old probe turbos even use the same clutch size as a TII.
