VIS' site

So I've never heard this before, but VIS is saying the Scoot hood requires a FMIC? I've never heard this before. Maybe they are full of ****, or maybe it just their version?

Hmmm

Cant see it giving a fitting problem, unless they make them differenrtly to everyone else

Have seen this type of bonnet fitted to many different setups, including SMIC in the UK!

SCOOT hood does not require FMIC. I have the scoot hood and a stock IC, with the black plastic air challel thingy (technical term) and everything. Fits perfect, with stock IC!

Just had a look at the VIS site and I think it's more like a'preferred thing' then that a fmic is actually required.

From an aerodynamics ppoint of view it does make more sense to have a fmic with this type of hood since the stock ic does not get air supply from the scoop that is normally available on the standard FC hood.

The main reason for mounting an aftermarket hood with lots 'n lots of holes (more important even then that it looks very cool) is that the warm air under the hood (mainly there in the first place because the front mounted intercooler dumps all the heat in the motor compartment) can be vented to the world outside of your car.

The stock intercooler is mounted on top of the engine, and therefor mazda thankfully made a big hole in the hood, neatly accentuated by the scoop, to make sure the intercooler gets fresh air.

Now when mounting an aftermarket hood with a cooling vent in the front then the rear part of the motor does not take in fresh air like it should, therefor the intercooler only works half as good as it should. (and if I can believe teh experts it isn;t all too impressive to start with)

This I think is what VIS refers to on their website.
