i installed my cd player the other day into my rx-7 and the trim piece that goes around the radio and the heater, AC/HEATER controld broke in half even after i took all the screws out,can i buy it new from a mazda deal or do i have to get it from a junkyard?anyone got one for sale that isnt broke? thanks

The piece new from the dealer is like $45-$50, there is a guy on ebay who is always selling new ones, they normally bid out at like $45. I fixed mine, smoothed it, and painted it shiny black to match the outside of the car.

 

Or you can replace that hard plastic with the unit from an 89-91, soft flexible rubber. Much better to work with. The shift surround is also that same material. Sometimes junkyard, or new. I'm toying with the idea of placing the entire stereo surround, shift surround, and leather shift boot, ebrake boot for one price in the wanted section. Dunno if that will fly. I have those pieces extra.
