I spray down a cool engine with a good biodegradable degreaser

let it sit

use a sponge or some other cleaning implement on the bad spots

and on the painted spots

pressure wash it with 1100-1400 psi pressure washer

start up the car and let it dry, if you have a air compressor use it

to blow puddles of water off as well.

use a silicone spray like WD-40 on the engine after its dry and cooled

down a bit to protect the metals and the rubber hoses and vac. lines

and make everything spiffy looking.

I have cleaned 100's if not a thousand engines using this method, unless

you are driving a old caddy or a 5.0 ford you should be ok, lol

the 5.0 ford tends to puddle up around the distributor and

makes the distributor cap wet, so if your distributor capped

equipped car runs rough after washing it, dry out the inside

of the cap. This happened like 1 in 50 or so.

anyway, your good to go.

I forgot to add you should spray the engine down with some

good silicone after its good and dry, to protect all the metal

and rubber and make everything nice and shinny.
