anything silicone based in the shop would also cause that... but no just in one part typically

Yup, I am working on that hatch currently. It will be on my car come rotorfest. I welded a plate in to so i can remove the wiper arm. Also it is wingless so I will be glad to get back to the sleek look. Did I mention pulling out the Fd rear hatch glass serioulsy sucks?

I used a chamiose to wipe off the underside and I am pretty certain that was what did it.

The fish eyes are pretty bad but I can get them out for the most part. I'll just have to shoot some extra clear. Btw no the compressor I am using is my old mans. My booth is still iunder construction. Its most likely a 20 year old tank and I am sure it has some water in it. I have not had too many issues with it thought. I am 90% sure that the fisheyes came from the rag I wipped the hood off with prior to shooting it.
Good to hear it wasn't a moisture problem, it can produce the same outcome(fisheyes in certain areas) At least it wasn't in the base coat, what a headache that would have been. Squirting on a little more clear isn't a big deal, just sucks to backtrack after a nice part is almost done.

Is the shop you're building for paint and body as a profession? or for fun @ home?

I run an antique refinishing and restoration shop.

Looks rad man. Hope to see it in person. I'll be back in MD this coming weekend. Maybe I can help install that single.

looks good, hopefully by the time you sand out the imperfections

the orange peel matches the rest of the car and you dont end

up sanding too much out

the chroma clear is alot easier to sand and polish then imron

clear thats for sure.

Why dont you try wet sanding it down with 600 and putting some

more clear on it? Dont sand to the color obviously. A chamois

was a bad idea, even paper towels would have been a better choice.

Depending on conditions in the shop and the painting technique the

fisheyes could have happen any number of ways.

Yea I am pretty experienced with sanding and buffing. I refinish furniture remember? I dont see any problems with that. There really isnt any orange peel on the top. Some small particles in there here and there is about it. Slight wave in some spots but no orange peel. It was the paints that I didn't know anything about. I never worked with colors. In furniture I shoot alcohol based stains and dyes. Then sealer and clears. My father also told me the chamoise was a no no. I won't do that again but hey my user title says it all. Thanks for all the good paint info. If the emron is a harder clear what is the up side that makes you prefer it?
