You do not need to convert the steering wheel over to LHD. And if you really want a skyline bad enough go to japan and find one for sale from a private owner. Motorex will import it for you and do the conversion work. the work, parts and fees from dot will run about 16k. They just don't guarentee the quality of the car thay you picked out. Option mag. has a sale section. you can find some hot cars for real cheap. I've seen many skylines for 10k.
and the skyline that they have on that web page isn't a GTR. Its an R32 but not A GTR. Its a GTS-T

There are ways to import vehicles into the US. Normally they are imported as substancially similar to a US model. Then what happens is anything that is different between the US DOT legal vehicle and the vehicle from overseas would need to be changed to be the same as a US model. For example - headlights , tailights , mph speedometer cluster. The DOT no longer accepts right hand drive cars as being substaincially similar to the US model unless the manufacturer provides information to the DOT stating the vehicles are substancially similar.
Additionally the engine in the vehicle must be available in the US or the engine must be certified for the US.

From motorex's site
I guess as long as you get a letter from the manufacturer to the DOT you do not have to change to LHD. That would explain how some of us have seen RHD cars zipping about
This makes me miss Japan and want J-spec cars and bikes.

thanks for the info, yeah I don't plan on making it street legal, I want to tell them it is for show only/parts car/track only, or some other lame excuse to get it in my hands without extra fees.
Anyone over in japan, ever heard of them?
