Win 98 Problem
#1
my gfs computer has some sort of virus or some ****
it seems to load programs even when I remove them
and disable certain ones on windows start up, I disable them
and they run again when the computer reloads, and they
dont show up in windows explorer or the ADD/REMOVE programs
page, one program is all numbers and letters
any ideas besides clearing the whole hard drive out?
I have run spyware and thats about it, its some **** *** internet
thing thats the problem

The only way you can really get rid of that stuff is write down letters/numbers associated with the problem programs and run regedit.exe and modify the registry keys
I had problems in 98 when removing programs that it wasn't taking out registry keys so it still thought the program was there
Manual labour like that sucks

DONT dink with regedit just running around deleting registry keys! Just delete the ones associated with the program names that have already been "deleted".
There is a 'find' function in the menu for the program so use keywords to find anything associated with the ex-programs
