BUT... WHY THE **** IS THERE A DRIFT FORUM HERE?
Drifting is not racing. Drifting around a corner is slower then taking the correct apex/line and having grip.

It still takes a lot of skill to do, fun to watch, bet its fun to DO, and because of those three reasons, it has attracted much attention....hence the forum!
I will note that it does seem to take a lot of risk to master, so...like motorcycles...I think I'll pass on it. Maybe on a wide open track given the few times i get the chance.
And I think that answers your initial question written in caps

Cheers there are 2 kinds of drifters. The kiddies your used to over at team that are hell bent on fighting with everyone over it. I saw that fucked up thread they posted taunting MikeL. That is rude and I can understand when idiots like that do stuff like that why you would hate the sport.
And there are those like the drifters here that actually do it and like to tlak about their adventures.
Face it. Drifting is a Motorsport. Racer magazine and Sportcar magazine both have articles on it . The SCCA is ready to sanction it. Its here to stay.
I wasn't to keen on it but its growing on me. Gonna give it a try someday.
Give it a chance. If you think about it Rally racing employs a lot of drifting skills.

this argue ment was soooooooooo last year just messing with ya
I'm w/ jims it's here to stay so if you don't like it, Just do like I do to nascar and DON'T WATCH IT!!! No one is forcing anyone to like it, but regardless it is very impressive, especially to see in real life, or to be in a car that is drifting. Much more exciting than a 1/4 mile run, and everyone seems to be addicted to that.
But that's my opinion

Perhaps I should just keep my mouth closed here, but I can't help it. Anybody can drive in a straight line. Fewer can tightly maneuver their vehicle at medium speeds, such as in autocross. And very very few can develop the skill to so concisely control their car by drifting. That is why people are so fascinated with drift.
I suppose that is just my opinion on drift. What I should be replying to is your question. There is a drift forum here because people are interested. People enjoy talking about it...
If you'll politely scroll to the top of your page, please notice that it reads "Nopistons.com Rotary Powered Forum." Where is the racing? That's right, it's not there. Funny thing, this is a rotary site, and not a racing site. You don't seem to be complaining about the "Other Cars" forum, or the X-Rated forum... Neither of those forums is even related to rotary engines...

If there is something to discuss about a topic, why not have a forum for it? They have jeep forums where they talk about offroading and stuff, thats not my thing, i don't get it at all, but hell if they want to talk about it then more power to them.

OMG! Great analogy!!
I like road racing just like speed skating and drifting like figure skating. Figure skating has the hottest chicks ever and the moves are beautiful. No real point. Road racing is pure speed, its functional has a point like speed skating...the cars look cool and stuff, but they are fixed to running the course as it is...

I can't understand this ridiculous, pithy complaint.
I already know coming into a tight corner w/my FC that it's slower to drift it than it is to apex it. Point is, I don't care. Drifting looks awesome, takes a HELL of a lot of talent to do, shreds tires, etc etc blah blah blah.
But, as many have pointed out there are many users here that like to drift, know what they're doing, and would like to discuss it.
And then there are people like you who talk like they know it all, and that the rest of us have the intellect of 4 year olds.
"Drifting is not racing" - who said that NoPistons was a race only forum?
"Drifting around a corner is slower then taking the correct apex/line and having grip." My, you've enlightened me so much, I think I'll convert to Grip driving!! Thank you, Mr. Race God, for implanting knowledge into my head that was already there long before you opened your mouth!
Get real. Every driver has a preferred style that they're comfortable with. Let the grip racers drive the way they want, let us drift riders drive the way WE want to, and quit your bitching. You look like an ***.
And, for the record......
I've found myself able to take turns a bit quicker using drifts. But that's just me. My brain isn't as advanced as yours.
