my $.02 is that most speed limits are too slow, so it makes everyone a speeder (there have been surveys on this and basically 80% of people go the same speed reguardless of signage), so if you make everyone a speeder or a law breaker it doesnt exactly garner respect for either the laws or the people trying to enforce them.

Most speed limits came around when the gas shortages happened the government hired a bunch of guys to do stuides and found that the best gas to distance was between 55 and 65 MPH. That's where speed limits started from what i know. And there are places where they dont exist such as montana. Speed Traps are exactly what they are. It's a way to TAX people. And it's a good way because 99% of people speed. If every one in the country stoped speeding on public roads tommorrow the government woudl tell stand up and tell you it's your civil duty to speed. It's a form of TAX that's it. Yes sometimes it warrented such as double the limit but 13 over give me a break that's a TAX.

Yeah, I have less respect for laws and lawmakers, but the cops are just earning their buck, not making decisions.

But I can understand why people blame the cops, because they're the ones people interact with.

Kinda like hate the teacher, even though the teacher teaches what the state mandates.
