Where do you think they get the money now? Do you think state finds magical free money to maintain "free" "pulic" roads for you?



You are already over-paying for it, paying tolls or fees a private business in competition with others would save you money vs paying a tax to a highly inefficient legal monopoly.

Not necessarily. You'd get stuck paying the tolls. The government would continue to collect the tax you pay now--they'd just find another way to **** it away.

Welp, it's a step in the right direction, towards the government United States was intended to have, government's function being the protection of human rights (including national defense) and that's it.



There are other benefits to private roads based on supply and demand, for example there are people who are upset that others drive 120 mph around them going the 55 mph limit, there is probably enough demand for separate roads with different limits and different surface and speed engineering (turns, etc).

i remember reading that, it was too hard to say if someone was speeding or not, so they made reasonable and prudent = 65

but there is a 300+ mile stretch of interstate where its a known fact that there is only one trooper patrolling it. I think there still is areas that have none, but not all the state.



In New York you can technically get a ticket for driving in the left lane

of the highway. Its supposed to be for passing only. Its usually only given

when a cop wants to give you a break and not write you for speeding.

I work for an Civil Engineering Firm that is contracted by the DOT of a few different states in the US. The funny thing about the highways, Interstates specifically is that they are designed for traffic speeds of 75-80 MPH. So when driving 75 on the interstate your actually driving the speed that the road design had intended. How you can get a reckless speeding ticket is beyond me other than its all about revenue Not saving lives. Although driving slower will give you more time to react and will take less distance to stop. If no one is around it should never be considered reckless.
