[quote name='RE4' date='Apr 18 2005, 06:11 PM'](Admiration for Canadians' political activities does not change the fact that a Canadian got me hooked on crack!!)

More than likely it was a Canadian politician that hooked you on crack, how do you think legislation runs so smoothly? Get 'em crack addicted, then they've got you by the *****.

I read through the minutes of a parliment meeting (or whatever their gubmint gatherings are called) and was quite disturbed with all the "Canola oil is good for Canada which equals money in our pockets" stuff. I thought we were the only capitalists who didn't give a rip about anyone else.

Actually, if you can see past all the propaganda, Canola oil is quite unhealthy, yet they're pushing it on us and the rest of the world because it's cheap to grow as a cash crop (bugs won't eat it due to its toxicity). My sheep comment was based on how they all just parrot their 'good words' about crapnola oil back and forth to each other, never bothereing to do any long term health studies.

Part of me is like, who cares. I've already told everyone I know that it's bad stuff. The other part of me worries about the poor SOBs who buy it thinking it's the heart healthy oil, not knowing that it is in fact worse in a lot of ways than the oils and fats it's replacing. Trans fats are on their way off store shelves thanks to a ruling about adding it to the "Nutrition Facts" panels on all products by Jan 2006. Processed foods companies are feeling the clench to replace trans fats with alternatives so as not to turn potential customers away. Adding Cancer-ola is one way. Soybean oil (which is also toxic) is another way, although it's not as tough as partially hydrogenated soybean or Canola is.

We shouldn't blame Canada for America's failing health, but they certainly aren't helping the situation. I also blame drug companies and McDougal's.
