Look at the needle on your fuel guage, and fill up with "x" gallons of petrol, reset the odo, when the needle gets back to the same position as before divide the odo reading by x.

a better way is to fill it up, reset the odo, go til you think its about to run out, refill it and take note of how many gallons (or liters) you put in. divide the miles by that.

this way is a little more precise

I'd say its significantly more precise. Start with a full tank, reset the tripmeter, drive the car, refill the tank. Divide the mileage on the tripmeter by the number of gallons required to fill.

My T2 used to get around 15 before I put the Haltech in. Since most of my efforts to map the fuel have been concentrated at full throtte, it runs too rich at cruise. I shudder to think how low my mileage really is, but I suspect upper single digits.

15/25, but that's before I reconnected my 02 sensor, I haven't calculated lately.

I can get about 15mpg in my '87 T2. Streetport, RB turbo-back, 255lph fuel pump, stock turbo, injectors, and ecu. That's only if I go easy on it for the most part.

I think for most what kills you is the stock ECU or a un-tuned aftermarket.
