Thumbs down

Ok guys, I just did a coolant system flush oil change, new spark plugs and wires, adjusted the timing and got a new fuel, air, and oil filter, and I'm still getting only about 15 mpg on the freeway driving about 70, what the hell is wrong here, what are some common causes for getting really bad milage. ohh yeah, its a 88 nonturbo with no mods. any suggestions will help, thanks. :tounge:

Airflow meter can cause this to happen, so can the atmosphereic boost sensor.

I know how you feel, my 90 rx7 conv is a fuel swilling machine. I don't get out on the freeway that much, so I see mostly 15-18 mpg intown, top up on the freeway it should go up to ~22-24mpg. Top down, slightly less. I, much like you, recently changed all filters, fluids & plugs. I did note a slight improvement, but it's still not great. I knew it wasn't an economy car when I bought it. Also, if you have an AUTOMATIC, well, first of all shame on you, but it'll also get slightly worse milage on the highway.

happy rotoring :yinyang:

I did all the same maintenance to mine when I bought it with 63K. It's always gotten about 15-17 city and 20-24 on the highway. Even with the minor mods i have now and 75K, the gas mileage has been pretty consistent.
