What Do You Guys Think About Pilots With Guns?
#13
horrible idea..
When you give the pilots firepower, you're making the potential situation much worse, and now the 'terrorists' don't even need to get weapons on the plane. They just book a flight with 5 or 10 of their buddies and overpower the pilots maybe losing a few men due to the handgun(s), then the pilots are toast, and the 'terrorists' armed with handguns and in control of the plane, yet now they are in even more control because the passengers will definately not be armed at all, and unlikely to be trained in any sort of hand to hand combat that would give them any chance in overpowering the terrorists as they did the originally armed pilots... which is not very difficult for a handful of trained men.
no weapons on planes, I have similar feelings about arming police. Arming people just ups the ante, it doesnt make anything safer... that is unless your people live in fear and are easily controlled by that (seems to work pretty well in the US, but thats NOT a GOOD thing!) you're just making more weapons available, something I like to describe as increasing the potential energy. Should anyone collaborate they don't even need weapons, they can just work in numbers and overpower the 'authorities' and now you not only have a large number of people able to work together against something that shouldnt have been put in place in the first place, but now they're armed with weapons they would not have otherwise had available. bad.
you either permit everyone to be armed equally or don't arm anyone. I prefer the latter of the two options.
