just tell em its a dog, how can anyone be sure if its a dog or a wolf?

 

People make a living knowing such things.

 

Definitely not a wolf. Just because a dog has a bushy tail doesn't mean it's a wolf, or I'd have two wolves at home (I have an Akita and a Husky/Shepherd mix). It looks like a husky/shepherd/basenji mix. The thin snout looks like basenji to me, and the coloring also. It's completely wrong for a wolf, as wolves are grey, white, or black in color (if they're actual wolves, and not hybrids). If it were a wolf or a 50 % wolf hybrid, you'd also not be able to keep it as a pet; the animal would be extremely skittish and distrustful of humans, no matter how long it'd been around them. Dogs are domesticated because they are essentially wolves kept in infant state (mentally, not physically), one of the main reasons for the totally different species names: Canis Lupus=wolf, Canis Familiaris=the common dog.
