Tomorrow, my friend Josh and I are picking up an '89 GXL for $250 to turn into an autocrosser/road-course car. The car is in need of serious love, i.e a new engine (water seals), radiator, and mild body work. The paint, originally Blaze Red, is more like Mild Pink. The body is pretty straight, but it's getting painted flat-black anyways. Everyone knows that cars painted in a flat-black schema are the fastest things on the road, right?

The goal with this car is to compete in the Grassroots Motorsports $2004 challenge, and with a little luck, you'll see my name and my friend's name in print next spring. Of course, we'll have to stick to a budget, which works to my advantage, as I'm pretty broke and my TII is still five hours away from running again. At least I'll have two broken RX-7s sitting at my apartment until I fix my TII. My dad, who is my landlord, is going to have a fit.

Pics to come...

I wouldn't call that 'wasting' your money.

Damn. We're not getting the car until Tuesday.

I wanted to start pulling that engine.

If anything, I can compete with my 1988 Mazda 626 Turbo. I bought the car for $600, in amazing condition, and I've only spent $200 on two new driveaxles for it.

I love ripping off people who have no idea of what they have.
