what in the **** do you need 10000 songs for?

its just not THAT important to me, I get in the car, flip the sat radio around a little and when something comes on I listen to it.

CANT BE BOTHERED putting that **** into some little device and carrying it all with me- I DONT CARE!!

The extent of me giving a **** is making a MP3 disk, if I took the trouble and loaded my in dash 6 disk changers with all MP3 disks thats more music then I could ever ask for.

I aint in the car driving across country or for 4 hours a day, im in the car for 15 minutes if that, 30-45 minutes is a rare event, and when im in the sevens who cares about music

isn't there this thing called a radio so you can choose music for your mood? I have a pda phone that has media players for all formats and i have 16gb of space.. and i have a total of 0 songs on it so far.. i still use the radio, or pandora most of the time.. and i have gps and all that on my phone, its great for work. As far as old decks, the only one we have is an old Kenwood deck, which is obviously not as high end as denon stuff, but that thing still works and its like 15 years old.. its also in Nicaragua now.. lol.. Those old decks get pretty damn heavy..

that freightliners I drive all have mp3 players in them though, so i have put some audio books on disc.. and i canceled the sat radio.. that **** got lame after the merger..

i haven't listened to the radio in 15 years, it's just a bunch of ads, it's impressive that you're patient enough to listen for music. Anyhow most of the music i listen to, if not all of it doesn't get any radio play. Unless you listen to country or top 40 odds aren't in your favor you'll hear it on radio.

I've heard some pretty cool country songs, which would not normally be played in Los Angeles, and it seems like small town stations play much more music than big city stations do.. I like being able to listen to things i might not normally try to hear at home.. to broaden my music taste..

I listen to all kinds of different music depending on my mood, from steve goodman to rage against the machine, just depends on my mood and I no i don't EVER listen to the same 50 songs. Most of the 10,000 songs in my itunes have 100 listens, like I said I love having my mp3 player and even found sattellite radio to be limited to the same few songs in each genre. The one that is playing on the boat right now is on random all, it just played gordon lightfoot and then played nirvana. i rarely skip songs when I'm sitting here chillin. I also remove songs that i don't enjoy listening to, so the 10,000 songs is reasonably trimmed down to songs I like..

I don't see a $200 device as the massive investment, in fact for the entertainment value I see it as a small investment. If i had a choice between tv and putting songs on my mp3 player every month I would rather have the new tunes on my ipod. You prolly spend into the 3 digits every month on cable tv and don't even think about it, I don't fault you for that and I'm not telling you your tv was a waste of money or your cable bill is a waste, you prolly dropped far more on your tv, cable bill, reciever, etc, etc, etc..... then i will ever put into my ipod. hell take the TV and all of the hardware out of the equation i bet you spend more on your cable bill every year then I spend on my ipod in 5.

i get dont spend on cable, and i have a 20 inch television in the living room.. its not priority for me.. those cable bills can get ridiculously high.. I'd rather have computer/internet which has all the music i will ever need and no need to purchase it since i just stream.. if I must have a certain song to burn, i buy it.. but i dont get that urge..

its not the cost of the ipod, its the hassle of putting songs into it, getting adaptors or wires to plug it into the car, hiding it when you get out of the car, etc..

if television was that complicated I would not have it either, lol

cable, phone, internet=$120 a month with all fees and taxes.

Yea I can see where one plug in my glove box would be more inconvenient then searching through a pile of cd's and feeding them into the slot, makes perfect sense. oh and for the record I haven't undone that one plug in 3 months, HUGE INCONVENIENCE.

LOL I'm guessing you just leave the TV on one channel all the time cause it's too much of an inconvenience to pick up the remote and change it? It's pretty much the same thing. I leave the ipod in the glove box, i hop in the car and start it, my music starts playing that really doesn't seem all that inconvenient to me, in fact it almost seems the opposite... convenient. I never load cd's, change the station, etc, etc... I consider it a HUGE convenience, you see it as a complete waste of time or money or it will be outdated, whatever.... we get it. Trust me I would never try to change your mind, you're happy with whatever and that's great, but that doesn't make everyone else who buys them some retard joining a fad, digital music and digital music players are the future, don't believe me.... how many music stores you see around? Used to be one on every corner, now they have to be book/music stores and the music section in those is shrinking at an alarming rate, new cars are coming with ipod connections, not 6 disc changers. That's because it is more convenient... period. I have access to pretty much everything ever put on CD 24/7, no going to the mall, no searching through cd racks and no having to wait for the proprietor to order it, purchasing and listening to music on an ipod define's convenience. even amazon that sells cd's sells almost their entire catalog digitally, they even release the digital version of the album prior to the cd release in many cases.

Again, i have no intention of ever convincing you otherwise of something you've already made your mind up on, i am merely defending myself and the many others here that have mp3 players as something other then fad following drones, that is the only reason I've decided to mention the advantages in the first place.
