Vintage Audio Thread!

I pulled this old Denon cassette deck out of my audio rack and hooked it up to my computer for the purpose of making a CD of a tape my 6-year old son had taken a liking to. I got to thinking that this old deck is older than a lot of you greenhorns. As I recall I paid $300 for it brand new in nineteen hundred and eighty-six. Deck still sounds great, works great.
I wonder how many iPods will still be around in 23 years? Fewer moving parts.

i looooooove records!
I play records all the time, a good record on a quality turntable with a good needle sound so much better then a MP3
IPODs will go the way of everything else these days, regardless how well it can perform there will be something ELSE out there, and your ipod probably wont hold a charge one day and it will be one of those "well no one sells parts for those anymore, just buy a new ZPOD instead, its the best"

LOL I'd like to see you take 10,000 songs in your pocket and listen to them while shopping with your recorder, hell i'd like to see you get one record in your pocket. i held off a long time on getting an mp3 player and even longer to digitally purchase my music, let me guess you have a hand crank on that record player cause you don't need that "fad" electricity to listen to your tunes!

Car hell, i stick with my horse drawn carriage, i'm waiting for something to come along and replace the car, like the cars on the jetsons! I'm not going to rush out and buy an automobile, sure as I do they'll replace it with something better and you won't be able to get parts for that motor carriage you got suckered into!!! SUCKERS!!!

See, I don't need to carry it all with me. I don't want to keep up with any more than my keys, wallet and cell phone. I don't want another small, expensive gadget that I can drop and smash by accident, or have stolen or lost. I like a big amplifier, 30 or 40 pounds worth, and a separate chunk of gear to play CD's or listen to the radio. And I want speakers that can move some air, not some damn "ear buds". I keep a working stereo in both my garages, one in the family room, and one upstairs in my man cave. I think album cover art and liner notes and lyrics were a good thing. 1's and 0's on an ipod just ain't music, man! You dig?

See i do, i like to take my music with me, which makes the choice easy. On the boat, in my car at the store, while i'm working on something, etc, etc, etc... as far as another gadget, just get an mp3 player that IS your phone and the issue is solved
I have 10,000 songs in my car, music for every mood, how many cd's would that take? the whole bed of the truck???
