Wait.. WTF?! I'm not putting silicon on the drain plug! That sounds like a big no-no.

if you need an inspection and there are emissions testing where you live you should just stop at a backcountry shop and get it done where there are no tests

you can put silicone anywhere ! some of my previous car were half silicone haha

Silicone on drainplugs = messy threads, dried silicone in the oil pan, a whole host of potential problems. Why not just pick up a washer from the parts store? It's twice as easy.

put the drain plug in, clean up the area and load up with silicone around the edges...let it cure for 24 hours and it shuold fall right off.

i dont know if this is great to do, but if your afraid of silicone in the oilpan, try some of that thread tape it should do the trick?
