Well, I'm kinda happy, kinda sad.. I got a scale, I weigh 223.2 (I was 232.5 at Scott's house) but I bought one of those fancy schmancy body fat measuring scales and it read 24%. So according to the manual, that classifies me as 'overfat'. Funny, I was ok with being 'overweight', but 'overfat' sounds worse!

Meh. I guess it's time to readjust my goal and be down to 215, or 21% by the end of the month.

If your lifting weight, the body fat percentage chart will not be accurate. The chart won't compensate for you building muscle weight.

I'm "technically" only supposed to weigh about 165-170. Any of the charts I look at tell me I'm overweight even though there's not a bit of fat on me....

Ignore the charts, just keep working at it till your happy.

Yeah, 'cept it's one of those ones that sends an electrical impulse through your body and measures the resistance. And I'd say it's prolly pretty accurate.

Really explains how the body works, nutrition, and how to tune your body to work properly (like setting the idle on a GSL-SE). Nothing complicated, a very simple and doable exercise plan, should be a grade 7 health course.

Basically, you WILL NOT lose weight by exercising. 1 hour of vigorous exercise = 300 calories burned = 1 mars bar.

Using this diet, I went from 200lbs/25% fat on October 15 to 170lbs/16% fat on January 22nd. Now trying to add exercise and a few calories to hit 180/12%.

Well, here's what I figure - I used to eat McDonalds or Wendy's daily, lotsa cookies, sweets, etc. I barely gained any weight with no exercise at all. Now I make a conscious effort to exercise 4 times a week for an hour, combined resistance and aerobic exercise. Also, I've cut out ALL fast food and some of the alcohol, less processed sugars, more whole foods and vegetables.

How does 1 hour of vigorus exercise = 300 calories burned? $10 says I burn more than that in 30 minutes of sex.

300 cals/hour is a rule of thumb. Your body is terribly efficient. I do a pretty good amount of activity, and I figure I only burn 2500 calories per day. On a bicycle, a human gets like 500 miles per gallon (energy equivalent).

The issue with exercise to lose weight is that there is a temptation to say "I worked out today, I'll treat myself" and it is very easy to intake more calories with the treat than you burned working out.

Read the hackers diet (that's the link). Losing weight is all about counting calories. Don't make me post before and after pics!

Post 'em up. I need some motivation.

I try to eat only to not feel hungry. I'm noticing more and more that I feel crappy when I overeat combined with exercise.
