So do I need a lawyer to get that or do I just write them. i figure before I actually hire a lawyer I will see what these to guys have to say. If it sounds like I have a case, then write the hospital and tell them what my plan is if they don't make me an offer????

From a cost perspective having a good secure hospital with tracking device tags and such is very expensive which is why they dont have it. From your perspective they really need it (which it sounds like they do). The only way to make them want to implement that is to make the liability of not having a system like that cost more than the actual system. You sue them for more money than the system will cost and I bet they work one into thier budget for 04 or 05 which will make thier hospital much more safe. Think of the chance you have, its up to you to create a safe environment for all the future patients at that hospital



Just remember 100K is chump change to a hospitol, thats one surgery. If you want to make them change you have to think MUCH bigger than that.



Also, I'd consult some good attorneys that work on a commission. Sure they are going to eat up a ton of money.....but they are also going to get a ton more from the hospital versus you settling out of court.

Hell they could have notified the cops and staff when it happened and it would have never gotten to the point it did, but they didn't do anything other then covering their own tracks.

Sorry I'm so late on this one.. Haven't been online. Sorry about what happened to you and your dad. Glad you found him ALIVE. I couldn't imagine having to deal with people after something like this... I have a real bad temper towards idiots.. Especially people that make that much money and are ******* incompetent... you need to write them a notarized letter saying they WILL (not should)



A. cover all expenses of this hospital stay/venture

and B. Be prepared to pay compensation for pain and suffering and emotional distress to you and your father



and be sure to include in the letter if you do not get a response within 3-4 days you will have your lawyer contact them



(but dont get a lawyer involved unless they do not reply)



and make sure to leave the compensation amount open, let them make the first offer then jack it up as much as possible



and as was mentioned threaten them with the media (bill o'reily haha) and lawyers

nothing is worse for a hospital than bad media coverage think about how much the media plays stories like this out, thats the last thing they want is you all over the news saying this ****



oh yeah and if you do end up having to go on media programs dont forget to wear your nopistons shirt haha
