deisels are mad cool... someone should make a rotary deisel. saw on trucks once they added a propane injection kit and it added something like 150 hp and 300 torque.

How do glow plugs work? Do they "heat" the air/fuel mixture instead of trying to spark to ignite? Am I off?

glow plugs are only used when its cold. in the summer they're not really needed. they simply warm the combustion chamber.
all combustion is done by means of compression no heat/spark/ignition is needed.
it's rather ingenious and they're becoming quieter, more efficient, and much cleaner then they used to be. my dads friend just got a new ram diesel with quiet technology or something, its fugging sick. the amount of torque those things has is incredible, im reminded of all the turbo diesel videos i have of them in the 1/4 mile running 9s and ****.

I thought diesels only used compression! Now I know! I thought my friend was almost right...but hes not! COMPRESSION IGNITES THE MIX!
