Each time they have to retool the line they lose money. Meaning it will cost you more.

so every ford being completely different and unique = 12.7 billion dollar loss?

or were they just able to do that because they bought rover

I do dislike that many times to get the top of the line motor, you have to get stuff that really isn't necessary. Now, I'd say it's safe to say that 85% of the time, someone springing for the bigger/more powerful motor is probably interested in power windows, locks, etc. But having to get stupid stuff at the same time, like a moonroof, and seat heaters, stupid things, just serve to annoy me.

Hey, i like my heated and cooled seats.

I just wish I didn't have to buy a sports car or a damn econobox to get a manual transmission. I want to be able to buy any car, truck, SUV, or minivan and get a manual tranny!

you must have really good roads with no traffic to say you only want manuals.

Everytime Im stuck in traffic for a few hours in a manual I curse it and want the auto.

True! Even when I drove to work everyday, it was very rare that I spent any time sitting in traffic. But I did live very close to the office. Every once in a while on a trip up 95 I would find it a three-lane parking lot, and granted, first gear, second gear, brake to a stop gets tiresome after the 99,764th time--but it didn't happen very often.

I'd like my MPV better if it had a manual tranny.

I don't think I could handle an automatic - I think it's just what you're used to cause I do a lot of city driving.
