I took a short trip to orlando last weekend, first time with the Sable on the highway for more than 8 miles. still not sure how fast I was going, Ford is too cheap to have more than 85 on the speedo and I had the needle 2-3 inches past that pointing straight down at the steering column. was fun though, 3 hr trip only took 2 to 2 1/2 hrs.

as far as long trips, I usually just take a shitload of coke, coffee, cigs, and all my cd's (close to 200 CDs of all kinds of music), turn up the bass and I'm good to go. of course each time I stop for gas it takes me 15-30 min while I stretch my legs

I usually sleep about 3 or 4 hours, then work 4 1/2 hours loading trucks at UPS, then make the 18 hour drive to NY when I go. When I drove the 7, the boost and stereo kept me awake. When I drive the Subaru, there's no radio, no cruise, and no power, so the only thing keeping me awake is the anticipation of seeing my family.

I'm driving about 21 hours today, and I'm running on about 45 minutes of sleep. Yeah, I'm fucked. I prepped the car earlier, fixing the shifter, getting the oil changed, and replacing a tire that was worn. Then I drank a car bomb thinking it'd help me sleep, but all it did was make me feel like I was going to die. Good plan. I'm bringing someone with me on my trip, so hopefully she'll help me stay awake.

Oh, as for the trip, I'm driving from Iowa to South Bend, IN to look at an '86 sport, then to Indianapolis to look at an '88 GXL, then to St. Louis to hang with 9BASE3, then back to Iowa. Crazy ****, all for the rotary!

Eat sunflower seeds. You gotta split em, get the seed out then spit the shell. Keeps your mind a little busy.

Then they make you thirsty as hell, so drink a Coke with em, gives you caffeine. Drink enough Coke, ya gotta ****. Can't fall asleep when ya gotta ****.

Stop for gas, take a ****, stretch your legs and start all over again.

BTW, this's pattented, so send me $1 dollar each time you use it.

I drove from San Antonio to Philadelphia. The trip was about 1822 miles, I made it in 24hrs flat. I averaged 76mph, haulin' azz! I bought a case of Moutain Dew (not diet crap) and listened to the radio. Channel surfing on the radio keeps you busy.
