So the wife wants to Scotchguard the seats in the new 3. Got 2 cans of the stuff from Wal-Mart. I did a little searching and while people seem to feel that it does protect the upholstery from spills and staining, it also may present something of a health risk. Something about Fluorochemicals accumulating in the blood, yada yada yada.

So is this stuff the cat's meow, or another deadly chemical from the Devil's own workshop?

I would not be worrying too much about it, lots of carpet and other things have been having scotchguard on them

for many, many moons

Do you ride around in the car drinking scotch? I wish they made Beer Guard.

I haven't yet, but if the urge arises, I wish to be prepared!

And I think Scotch Guard will protect against spills of any substance having a lower alcohol concentration than Scotch. Hence, it would work for beer also, but not Bacardi 151.
