Scotch
#1
I've added Scotch to my beverage list. About 5 years ago a new bar opened in my town. They had a great offering of Single Malts. I spent a few months tasting different ones. The basic flavor really varies a lot by region.
Tom P.S. sorry if this is off topic. but the two go so well together

I've tried several Single Malts. That's like a purebread. One type of malt, one region. As opposed to a blend. To that end, I like the Highland Scotches, they are less earthy, you can get some Lowland scoth that actually tastes like peat moss. My favorite ( in my price range ) is Scapa. It's made up in the north on the Orkney Ilses. Retails for like $45.00 a bottle. You can spend a lot more than that on good Scotch.

I've only dabbled a bit in scotch but one of my favorites is Talisker, made at the Isle of Skye. Good stuff. real warm and hearty. definately not for sipping. If not Talisker, i'd gladly settle for some Glenrothe . Blended scotch is crap.
