Road And Track Says...

Well I dont expect the new rx-7 to out do the Fd in terms of speed. Handling and reliability is probably the only thing they can improve.
I spent some time on the supra sites and read all sorts of topics describing V6TT, V8's and even a V10. The Supra will probably end up in the price range of the SC430 and resemble it in many ways.

[quote name='teknics' date='Aug 18 2003, 03:47 PM'] theyre making a 4th gen rx7 to compete with the new supra that toyota is making.
which in actuality will suck because toyota announced that the supra will be developed as more of a sport grand touring then a standard sports car.
i dont like grand touring types of cars...i need to find the article about the new supra...
kevin.

A GT, or Grand Touring, car is one with a coupe body style. Sweet GT's that come to mind are the 360 Modena, Aston Vanquish/DB7, the current Supra (MKIV), the 3KGT, the 911.
What do all of those have in common? Simple, they're bigger then your average sports coupe, they're heavier then your average sports coupe, they're pricier, longer, wider, and most of all, they ALL have the rear glass slope long into the hatch.
So, are GT Coupes better then Sports Coupes, it depends. GT's usually have more power then their smaller nimbler siblings because if they want to compete, they need the extra power. They make up with top speed what they lack in aceleration and handling, and most importantly, they make up what they lack to sports coupes in style and beauty.
Lets face it, although the FD is a beautifull sports coupe, it doesn't have a lot of competiton in that department.
