Until two years ago, maybe three, there was a 3 liter displacement reg that did not state how many cylinders were to be used. At that time everyone was using a V-10, but Toyota was developing a V-12, they changed it to a mandatory V-10 reg because the FIA was scared that Ferrari was going to get their *** whooped.
