[quote name='CletusFD3S' date='May 12 2005, 09:51 PM']sorry.... why dont you give us some reasons to join?

Welll one could join the Military to....
1. Support our president in his time of need, God forbid we send some rich kids over to the desert.
2. Cover your best friends *** while his convoy with water/food/medicine is attacked by people who dont want us there in the first place.
3. Money towards school, if you can still manage to walk, talk, use the bathroom after that car bomb explodes behind ya.
The whole reason they dropped the time required for enlistment IMO is because they cant convince enuff people that they want to go to Vietnam part Deux for 4 years.

there is still that lil clause in the contract that says "OR to meet the demands of the army" ... that means you can be involuntarily extended indefinately. Think it doesn't happen? I had a buddy who was supposed to ETS in 01. He is in Iraq still on active duty right now.
I know of several people that this has happened to actually. Dunno if they made it out yet or not, but i know JT is still in.

You mean the US government is basically lying to people to get them to enlist?
I refuse to believe it.

not necessarily lying to them about it. EVERY contract has that in it... nothing going on when your time comes up... you go home. Someone blows up the statue of liberty... expect job security for a while.
