I installed win2k on a computer and when I go to "shut down" the computer it goes through the process and then says "it is now safe to turn off your computer." Does anybody know if/where there is an option to tell it to just shut itself off?

more than likely you'll need need to have ACPI support enabled if it's even supported on your motherboard... another kicker is that you usually can't just enable it, you have to reload windows 2000... you can try changing the driver for the System to an ACPI one, but more than likely your machine will blue screen at boot...

here's some links about ACPI

good luck!

if the computer has an AT style power supply it won't shut off via software (like windows does).

98... it's a crap shoot, could be either one. Likely to be ATX though which should have the ability.
