I've had my VAIO Laptop for a year now and have had only problems (One problem actually) which I caused. It's fixed and working great, best PC I've ever owned.

theres a big difference between being a user and being an administrator. You've had 4, ive worked on 60+ They broke all the ******* time. Ive had far far fewer problems with IBMs. I even thought the dell's were better. and thats not saying much.

"LOL, your joking right?" cymfc3s

Nope, not joking at all.

Of course, my experiences have been different than yours, but as a professional Graphic Designer, all I use are Macs. Don't get me wrong. I've been stuck on PCs before so I'm not just talking out of my *** here. On Macs, I have experienced nothing but smooth, efficient, non-crashing functionality. I can't say that about PCs. I am aware of the virtues of the PC platform, but it's hard to compare to the simplicity, stability and power of a Mac.

Anyway, there is some real truth in what Apple says in their advertising. Baldy, for what you're after, there's nothing better than an iMac. They're fast, powerful and compact. A digital camera and scanner would be right at home.

yep, totally agree with you, its damn hard to beat an apple for graphics design and editing. My first computer was a Mac Plus I just love giving Mac people a hard time.

I've played deerhunter 2.

and the only other uses (besides learning video and such, not besides playing deerhunter) would be for web use, typing papers, and maybe managing finances. And considering a PDA can do that, I'm sure a MAC can handle it with no problem. Right?

anyways, like I said, the vaio is my inlaw's computer, so I don't know if they're going to take it or leave it with us when they move
