most important reseach are done on government grants and such, like the government this year dedicated millions to discover the cause of aids. Once aids is cured there will be no need to over charge for r & d because that time has already been paid for.
The whole arguement came about when I rose my hand and asked where down the line does this become so expensive?
Nobody though of (And apparently my teach didn't know/mention) the idea of Gov't Funded research.
Anywho, don't you think they deserve at least SOME $ being they save lives? I do.
And I've seen people with new mustangs and BMW's in trailor parks...it's usually a matter of HOW you spend your money, so the car thing seems a bit invalid.
But, alas, somewhere down the line of where the money go's...is somebody who could be taking LESS for their service and helping the american public a great deal...

I dont think we are talking BMW and Mustangs. When my wide and I were in the hospital with our baby. The room overlooked the doctors parking lot. It was a wet dream. Ferrari's, 8 series BMW's, Porshe's, and Mercedes Benz eveywhere. These were most likely their daily drivers.
And if you look at my other two career choices--a lawyer and a politician--at least I have a chance of being slightly less hated in the long run...
2ndGenerationY - Tough choices Doctor, Lawyer, Politician. Hmmm. I would choose doctor. But there are other choices out there. You state that like those are the only 3 choices you had in your life.

Man jims, you sound like you're on a getting-screwed streak. I don't ever remember having to pay those kind of prices for my son's visits. Hell, we spend more money on vet bills (5 animals, 1 kid). I don't know if Tallahassee is just a lower-income town than where you are, but I never see real fancy cars around our hospitals. I mean, I might see a porsche or s2000 every now and then, but nothing like you talk about.
I could be wrong, maybe they just drive them on the weekends, or I'm just not that observant.
Anyone have any major problems with Health Plan Southeast (HPSE)?

**** girl all you had to say is that your dad is a chiropracter!! Obviously a proffesion in itself that is all about helping people. My chiropracter is GOD to me.
I will tel you he just bought a 500K home. But he deserves it. I have no idea how he makes money he only charges me $35 per visit because my insurance will not cover. He is a kind man that cares and I feel he desrves everything he gets. If your dad was half a decent he would be a saint.

About the 3 career things, of course there are have been more. What little kid doesn't want to be a vet or an astronaut? lol I have seriously considered a profession in journalism, anything dealing with astronomy, etc... I suppose there is also being a film director / cinematographer, but that is even chancier than being a successful chiropractor.
Oh yeah, and I want to thank you for properly using your shift key, rather than just tapping caps lock.

glad to see its not as bad as originally you thought it might be
I have a simple plan when I go to the doctor, I tell them if insurance
isnt going to cover it im not coming in, thats it. Its funny how rates
can change when doctors want them to
I need a MRI for my back and I have been waiting over 2 weeks for
the approval from my insurance company. Insurance sucks and doctors
suck, every year the insurance companies cover less and less, and make you pay more and more. More deductables, more co-pay, higher premiums.
The system is very fucked up and the government needs to step in, part of the problem is the ******* law suits, but dont get me going on
lawyers either!

My wife needed a MRI on her shoulder 2 years ago. My insurance company said it would only pay $600 for an MRI since our deductable is so high I knew we were paying for it. So I called the doctors office and cancelled the MRI when asked why I told them I found another office to do it for $600 like the insurance company said it would cost not the $1200 you quoted me. I actually did find a place that would do it for $600.
They dropped their price to $600 to keep us there. Then tried to charge $1200 after the fact. I raised hell and quoted the phone conversation I had w/ their nurse. They denied it and told me that they NEVER charge $1200.
Make sure you get your prices in writing. I learned the hard way. Its just like any other business transaction. You need to negotiate then get it in writing.
