Apologies - I was wrong about the engine. I had heard somewhere that the engine from the HSV (Monaro's big brother) used an Aston engine, but that still doesn't make sense. Guess where I heard it? - on a Jeremy Clarkson video - he really is a tit.
The first Shelby Cobra was sold in 1962, AC had been making them since the 50's, all Carrol Shelby did was suggest they use an American v8
The ford GT40 was designed by an Englishman called Eric Broadley, and was built in Slough which is just outside London.
