OK, so I bought a 1989 Toyota Corolla for an everyday driver while I do my TII swap. Anyways, the key broke off in the ignition, after I started the car I guess, b/c I drove it and shut it off fine. As I went to get back into my car, I noticed that I had half a key. That was my only key since I just got the car. So now what do I do. My window is partially down so I think I can get it unlocked tommorow, and if the part of the key is still in the ignition, maybe get it started and home. I though maybe a strong magent would get the key out of the ignition, any suggestion there? And how do I get another key made if I only have the half, or if i get the other half out can they make a key thats in 2 pieces? One of my buddy's told me that theres some code on the doors of cars that has like the key number in case of something like this. Any help is appreciated. Im a bit tipsy now so I hope that all made sense. hehe. Thanks.

Take the ignition apart and remove the rest of the key, then go to you Hoyota dealer, give them the car's VIN and they'll make you a new key!!!

Depending on where the key is stuck in the ignition, you might not have to take it apart. If it sticks out maybe you can pull it out. You could power a magnet to remove the key or you could save yourself many headaches and have a locksmith do it.
